Last night I was happy to engage in a fun interview with Sam Adams on TRANSFIGURED regarding my new book, Constantine and the Divine Mind: The Imperial Quest for Primitive Monotheism (Wipf and Stock, 2019). [Available now on Amazon] and [Barnes and Noble]
Here we discuss both Constantine and his religious world, including such stimulating topics as “pagan monotheism,” the Council of Nicaea, Hermeticism, Constantinian propaganda, religious historiography in late antiquity, psychological paradigms of religious conversion, and much more. Sam is a brilliant fellow with a great sense of history, and someone who really understands the theological important of these subjects.
If you’re looking to fill your coronavirus quarantine with the spirit of late antiquity, do consider checking this book out; it’s short, but jam-packed with interesting and I suggest important information. I feel quite good about the arguments in this book, and I hope it proves helpful to both those who are new to these subjects and to those hoping to sort through scholarly controversy.
Thanks again to Sam for having me on!
