Happy to announce my acceptance into the Ph.D. program in the Religious Studies Department at the University of Cape Town.
I couldn’t be more excited to attend this distinguished research university and, of course, to travel back and forth to such a beautiful locale. I am tremendously indebted to all of those who have supported and encouraged me over the years. I give glory to God, and thanks to my friends and family, for this great opportunity.

My choice in doing my Ph.D. in Religious Studies at UCT has mostly to do with my current research interests, which both maintain the trajectory of my earlier work and branch off in exciting ways. For now, I’ll say that my interests involve monotheism (which should come as no surprise if you are at all familiar). But it has become increasingly clear to me over the years, especially in light of the underlying themes in both The God of Jesus (2016) and Constantine and the Divine Mind (2020), that questions about monotheism and how different doctrines of God develop and are transformed in different global and cultural contexts have become driving forces in my academic life. Likewise, the topic of religious syncretism in history and the challenge of religious diversity have become important subjects. At UCT I have been blessed to find a supervisor who specializes in the religion of precisely the global context into which my pursuit of monotheism has taken me.
But we’ll save the rest for next time. More on my research soon.
Until then, thank you all for the love and support you’ve given me over the years. I’m excited to see what God will do in the coming season.
In hope,
K.C.
